The Urgency of Now

The Urgency of Now is a new Oxfam GB book - it's basically a call for global justice in a pocket sized paperback. I did the illustrations for it and here are two of them. The first one is about luck - the lottery of life - if you happen to be born in a country with a public health care system, your chances of survival are already greatly improved.

The second image is about climate change, and sadly we appear lost on the high seas on this one, severely lacking political will and leadership. It is difficult to illustrate this issue without seeming trival, I originally thought about a version of the painting, The Raft of Medusa, but I didn't want a contemporary issue to look historical and the idea of a life raft indicates rescue, and given there is no chance of that, I stuck with the idea the high seas.
